Clinical manifestations: Eyelid drooping worsens with fatigue or prolonged reading, sensation of heaviness in eyelids or head, chronic fatigue and weak limbs, poor appetite and loose stools, shortness of breath and reluctance to speak.
Tongue: Pale, puffy, tender body with teeth marks, thin white coating. Pulse: Weak, especially at right Guan, may be deep.
Treatment principle: Tonify Spleen-Qi and raise sinking Qi to restore the eyelid's lifting capacity.
Note: moxa applicable, especially DU-20. Direct match with this site's own Spleen-Qi-sinking slide — the same pattern used site-wide for organ prolapse and bearing-down presentations.
2. Qi and Blood Deficiency
Clinical manifestations: Gradual drooping worsening with fatigue, pale or sallow complexion, dizziness or lightheadedness, heart palpitations, pale lips and nail beds.
Tongue: Pale body, may be thin or have teeth marks, thin white coating. Pulse: Fine and weak.
Treatment principle: Replenish both Qi and Blood together to restore nourishment to the eyelid muscles.
Note: moxa applicable throughout. No deck on this site combines Qi and Blood deficiency into one slide, so no pattern link is given here.
3. Wind-Phlegm
Clinical manifestations: Sudden or heavy drooping of the eyelid, feeling of heaviness in eyelids or head, copious white or frothy sputum, dizziness or vertigo, chest stuffiness or nausea.
Tongue: Slightly pale or normal, swollen with teeth marks, white greasy coating. Pulse: Wiry and slippery.
Treatment principle: Expel Wind and transform Phlegm to clear the sticky obstruction blocking the channels that lift the eyelid.
Note: no moxa. No deck on this site has a combined Wind-Phlegm category outside the Lungs, a confirmed and recurring absence, so no pattern link is given here.
4. Damp-Heat
Clinical manifestations: Eyelid feels heavy and droops with redness, sticky or thick discharge around the eye, head feels heavy 'as if wrapped in a cloth', fullness in chest and upper abdomen, sticky taste in mouth.
Tongue: Red body with yellow, greasy coating. Pulse: Slippery-rapid or soggy-rapid.
Treatment principle: Drain Damp-Heat and clear the sticky, heavy quality that drags the eyelid down.
Note: no moxa. This site's own Damp-Heat-in-the-Liver slide is genital/vaginal-discharge-specific (checked directly), not a match for an eyelid presentation, so no pattern link is given here.
Clinical manifestations: Eyelid drooping worsens with emotional stress, distension or pain along the ribs, frequent sighing, irritability or mood swings.
Tongue: Normal or slightly dark body, red or slightly purplish sides, thin white coat. Pulse: Wiry.
Treatment principle: Course the Liver and resolve constraint to smooth Liver-Qi flow and restore nourishment of the eyelid sinews.
Note: no moxa. Direct match with this site's own Liver-Qi-stagnation slide.
Clinical manifestations: Drooping worsens with fatigue or prolonged reading, dry eyes and blurred vision, pale lips and nail beds, dizziness and palpitations, muscles undernourished and weak.
Tongue: Pale, thin body with thin white coating. Pulse: Fine and weak, possibly choppy.
Treatment principle: Nourish Blood to restore moisture and nourishment to the eyelid muscles and sinews.
Note: moxa applicable on tonifying points. Direct match with this site's own Liver-Blood-deficiency slide, which explicitly lists Yuyao (EX-HN-4) as its local point for blurred vision — the same extra point used throughout this page.
