Purple Face

How Chinese medicine differentiates a purple or dusky facial complexion into the five patterns you'll actually meet in practice, and the points for each. Distinct from this site's Dark Face and Cyanosis pages. Acupuncture only — no herbs.

This page is educational, for practitioners and students — it is not a diagnostic tool and does not replace a proper in-person assessment. A sudden bluish-purple facial discoloration with breathing difficulty or chest pain is a medical emergency — seek immediate care. This page addresses only chronic, medically-evaluated facial discoloration.
