Urethritis

How Chinese medicine addresses urethritis — inflammation of the urethra — with its core pattern and the points for it. Distinct from this site's own Urinary Tract Infection page. Acupuncture only — no herbs.

This page is educational, for practitioners and students — it is not a diagnostic tool and does not replace a proper in-person assessment. Discharge, fever, or symptoms after a new sexual partner need prompt medical evaluation to rule out a sexually transmitted infection before assuming a simple pattern.

Clinical manifestations: Burning or stinging pain during urination, dark yellow, cloudy urine, lower abdominal fullness and distension, urinary urgency and frequency, thirst with little desire to drink.
Tongue: Red body with a yellow, greasy coating that is thickest at the root. Pulse: Slippery and rapid, often more pronounced at the left Chi position.
Treatment principle: Clear Damp-Heat from the Lower Burner and restore the Bladder's function of smooth urination.
Note: no moxa. Direct exact-name match with this site's own Damp-Heat-in-the-Bladder slide — the source itself gives only this single pattern for urethritis, unlike most conditions on this site.
