Failure to Thrive (Paediatric)

How Chinese medicine differentiates poor growth and weight gain in children into the six patterns you'll actually meet in practice, and the points for each. Distinct from this site's own Delayed Child Growth page. Acupuncture only — no herbs.

This page is educational, for practitioners and students — it is not a diagnostic tool and does not replace a proper in-person assessment. Failure to thrive always needs a paediatric medical work-up before assuming any TCM pattern; acupuncture is at most a gentle adjunct, and needling in young children should be minimal and cautious.
