Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

How Chinese medicine differentiates OCD into the six patterns you'll actually meet in practice, and the points for each. Distinct from this site's Anxiety and Worry pages. Acupuncture only β€” no herbs.

This page is educational, for practitioners and students β€” it is not a diagnostic tool and does not replace a proper in-person assessment. OCD is best treated with professional mental-health care (therapy and/or medication); acupuncture is a complement, never a replacement. Compulsions that involve self-harm need prompt professional support.
General Acupuncture Points

Acupuncture points traditionally used for obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) β€” 3 key points, used across the patterns below rather than tied to just one.

P-6Opens the chest and moves Qi and Blood. Calms the Mind. Moves Liver-Qi.
LIV-3Subdues Liver-Yang. Extinguishes interior Wind. Promotes the smooth flow of Liver-Qi.
