Sweating Palms and Soles

How Chinese medicine differentiates excessive sweating of the palms and soles into the six patterns you'll actually meet in practice, and the points for each. Distinct from this site's own Hot Palms and Soles page (heat sensation without necessarily sweating). Acupuncture only — no herbs.

This page is educational, for practitioners and students — it is not a diagnostic tool and does not replace a proper in-person assessment. Persistent, disruptive sweating deserves an in-person assessment before assuming a single pattern explains it.

Tongue: Red body with yellow dry coating, sometimes with early cracks. Pulse: Overflowing and surging, rapid, strongest at the right middle position.
Treatment principle: Clears Stomach-Heat and drains Fire, stopping fluid steaming to the hands and feet.

Tongue: Pale, puffy, teeth-marked body with thin white coating. Pulse: Fine and weak, especially at the left Cun and right Guan positions.
Treatment principle: Tonifies Heart-Blood and Spleen-Qi, securing sweat by addressing the root deficiency.
